Paradise & Cali....ahhhh

The 8 of us in the Taylor family had some really fun times this summer.  My dad got to work in Hawaii for a month!! Crazy!! And we got to visit:) It was a wonderful trip.  We were on the island of Oahu, and in the town of Kailua.  Kailua was warm, surrounded by clear water, perfect waves, suntans, sunburns, and adventures.

We went to Kailua beach everyday(picture above), and there was never anyone there! One of the prettiest beaches in the world is Lanikai Beach(pic below).  It really is spectacular and the views were incredible.  We just walked there from the house we were staying in.  Those 2 islands are the Mokes, and we kayaked out to them one day.  We didn't start from the beach you are looking at in this picture, we started from even further away!! It was intense with the waves and working our arm muscles, but we made it there and back! Phew!!!

We also went to sunset beach, and watched the sunset:) To make that even better, there was a bride and groom getting pictures taken at the beach while the sun was setting! It was perfectly romantic!

We also made it over to Matsumotos, where they have the best shaved ice!! Oh it was like heaven.  Well, the name of the place where Matsumotos is, is Haleiwa (the 'w' makes a 'v' sound).  So if you say Haleiwa in just the right way, it sounds like you are saying heaven. If it isn't sounding like heaven to you, just call me and I will tell you how to pronounce it the right way!  In my opinion this place looked like heaven, tasted like heaven and sounded like heaven.  I was sold!

Yum!!!

We went to the Dole Plantation!! And the Dole whips are out of this world! Better than any other dole whip out there!!

We made it over to Pearl Harbor.  It was cool to go there again and refresh my memory from when  I was 12 and went there.

A lady my dad worked with takes a hula class and invited us to go! So we went to the YMCA and took a real hula class and learned a dance! It was so so fun.  It was calming and very peaceful! We all loved that very much!!

We did a few other things as well, but now
it is time to go to Cali
!

We went to Cali with a family that we are
good friends with!!It was double the fun:)

This is part of the crew laying on the beach soaking in the sun!!!

We became pro at volleyball:) We even played a few games in the evening!

All the kids jumping for joy! Who wouldn't jump for joy when they are on the beach?

The four girls! Our beach house is one of those ones behind us!

All the kids again:)! Heather just didn't fit into our pyramid thing,
so she was cool and sat in the front!

Then we went to Santa Barbara for a day and took a fun sailing excursion!
This is my mom and her friend Jodi!

Brad and Jonny looking at the seals! There was one male among
a bunch of females, pretty exciting!

And last but definitely not least........the DODGERS!!!!!!
It was a blast going to the dodgers game! We had amazing seats and loved the experience,
it was even better than the first game we attended years ago!!

This game was special.  It was star trek night so, William Shatner threw the first pitch!!!
My mom was thrilled:) (she is a star trek lover!)
Since it was a friday night, they did fireworks after the game!! Wait....it gets better!
Since our seats were amazing, we were close enough that after the game we got to go onto
the field to watch the fireworks! My dad got to touch the grass that his favorite team plays on!  It truly
was an amazing night! This last picture is of us on the field:)

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, or at least look at the pictures:)
Summer is drawing to an end, but now we get to have fall!!!
I love fall and am excited for everything that fall brings!! I love you and miss you all!!!!!

Pretty cool stuff Taylors. Yours pics make me REALLY miss Hawaii and Tiff miss Matsumotos. And here I thought we were having too much fun - looks like you guys have had more than your share as well. The baseball game was probably really cool to be down on the field. I'll bet that was something to remember. Miss you guys and hope to see you sometime soon.
